Garment care

We are here to help you care for your unique handmade garments at home. In addition to being easy, these methods can help make a big difference to our environment. All second-hand textiles have been washed before I have upcycled them, so to ensure the quality of your clothes please follow the instructions below:

Wash at 20°C or Handwash – Washing at a lower temperature not only reduces carbon emissions but it also upholds the condition of your garment. Did you know that washing your clothes at 20°C can reduce running costs by an average of 62%!

Items such as corset tops should only be handwashed cold due to the delicate materials used to make them.

Air dry, not tumble dry – Air drying your garments is much gentler on your clothes, you can air dry your clothes outside on a line or inside on a rack. Using a tumble dryer to dry your clothes is a quite abrasive method and breaks down the fibres in the fabric meaning they don’t last as long. Heres a fun fact for you - For many households, the clothes dryer is the second most energy consuming appliance, after the refrigerator. So not only are you saving your clothes, you are saving money too!

Iron on cool -   As each item has been upcycled from second hand textiles, sometimes the fibre of the fabric is unknown. Therefore, to ensure no damage when ironing, set the iron to a cool setting.

Wash when necessary – Only washing your garments when needed will help the longevity of your clothes and will also save you energy, water, and detergent!
